Better than Steroids Book – Dr. Warren Willey | Review

A major influence in my bodybuilding and coaching career was Dr. Warren Wiley.

I am a lifetime natural athlete and bodybuilder. I been competing for over 5 years now. I can’t even remember my first competition. I started using some of Dr. Warren’s techniques like SGC about 4 years ago but I could never hit it on the nail. It’s not easy, but that’s from a bodybuilding peak perspective.

If you forget about stage day, his methods were definitely ahead of their time and I’d still do them today. I am trying a new approach to health and fitness these days, but I apply many of his teachings in addition to the new knowledge I have. You can see what a Super Glyco Compensation can do to you in the picture on the left, but unfortunately I missed timed it.

Fast forward to today, I can’t wait to get on stage again and do this in a slightly different manner. If you want to know what I know purchase my book, Fitness Adaptation Principles. But don’t close up to only my ways, learn from others, the old schools, so you develop a great understanding of nutrition, training, and more. Develop your own ideas but avoid the mistakes we made by learning from others like me.

This is an on-going debate, but there comes a level where, depending on your weight class, steroids will play a crucial role into whether you’ll be competive or not.

Are steroids needed to become a professional bodybuilder?

In today’s world, you can’t be a professional open class bodybuilder naturally. But it doesn’t mean you can’t be a professional bodybuilder. In today’s competition world, there are various categories you can compete in. Men’s physique, men’s classic physique, and open bodybuilding. At the amateur level there is no 212. In the pro’s, there is no weight classes for bodybuilding division.

Bodybuilding – Classic Physique

In my opinion, if you have great genetics, and you know how to diet and how to lift you can definitely go pro.

I’m not talking about just going to the gym and throwing weights around, starving to cut, getting fat to bulk, that isn’t knowing what you’re doing. Is that how guru’s still do things today? Many of them yes that’s how they go about it.

If you’re an educated trainer today though, we know that it is a flawed approach. Check out the menu tabs above, starting with the home page, moving to nutrition, and then working out. You’ll know more then many gurus out there just by absorbing that informatiom.

Here’s what I think you’re chances are to go pro naturally:

Men’s Physique:

If you have great structure, an athletic background, good knowledge and dedication, it is your best chance to go pro with the IFBB without doing drugs.

Classic Physique:

Same explanation as men’s physique, but chances drop significantly. This is because there is weight categories, and it is hard to put on the amount of muscle required to be competitive and natural. Can it be done? Yes I truly believe it can be done. I myself, am too heavy for my class, and I’m natural to this day.

Open Bodybuilding:

No chance. With that said, you can probably go pro at a lower weight class naturally, in bodybuilding, but in the pro’s, you will never even be allowed to get on stage if you don’t have a certain amount of muscle. Someone who is let’s say skinny, can go pro in a lower weight class in bodybuilding, and then compete in Classic. Even the 212 division is out of reach to be competitive naturally.

Golden Era Bodybuilding

Back in the golden era of Bodybuilding massive size was not the most important thing in competition. Things like symmetry, hardness, dryness, vascularity, all played an important role. Though many of things still play a role today, having a massive frame is a must.

Nowadays, you can’t have the body of a Frank Zane or a Robbie Robinson and expect to be competitive.

This is no disrespect to the Chemist or Robbie because they’d dominate the Classic Physique division.

Bodybuilding has been around for quite a few decades now. As time goes by, different lifting strategies, different methods of training, different ways of eating and even synthetic ways of getting results are being developed.

Everyone is born with different metabolisms, different genetics, some good, some bad, and regardless of how you are born that is not to say that you can’t maximize your potential.

Can you build a great Physique without the Use of Steroids?

Yes you can. Here’s the thing though, if you want to be the best bodybuilder of all time, you most likely will not achieve that at any division without the help of PEDs. Will you live longer, have less side effects, keep your hair, prevent ED, avoid depression, decrease injuries, etc… ? Yeah you get all that. But more then likely you’ll get dominated at every show. PED’s are a huge advantage. Even in competition.

If you follow sports, people get caught cheating all the time. At the highest level of any sport, it is hard to compete without the use of help. Again, per my experience, you can develop an amazing natural physique.

You can be leaner then the average human. Bigger then the average human. Stronger than the average human. But it takes longer, takes more knowledge, and hard work.

Is it worth it bodybuilding naturally?

To me it is. I am 38 years old and I feel amazing, I have a great physique, I am functional, and I’ll probably live a lot longer then most professional bodybuilders. I started bodybuilding competitively 6 years ago and my goal is to go pro naturally. If I can just get my pro card I’ll be satisfied. From there I’ll compete in a natural league.

There are methods of doing things that have always worked and that will always work as long as our human DNA code for the most remains that… human. Science has allowed us to understand many things that a long time ago was pure trial and error.

Science has developed ways for us to calculate how many calories we burn per day. It has come up with formulas that determine how many carbohydrates, proteins, and fats we need on a daily basis in general to live a normal and healthy life.

Technology has also now made it possible for us to just input numbers and plans are created for us. No need to do math, calculations, and pray that we got all the variables correct. This however does not mean that you don’t need to understand what you are doing.

Let me give you the biggest tip ever.

If you go through what I speak about in my homepage, watch the video, then go to the nutrition page, and watch that video, and then go to the working out page, and watch that video, you will not only have the opportunity to develop a great natural physique, you will develop a great enhanced physique as well, and probably beat all the side effects that come with PEDs.

If you decide to go the route of using PED’s, learn to do it naturally, once you get it, proceed to the next level. You will not regret it!
