Online personal training Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): (applies to private one-on-one personal training)
How much is an online personal trainer?
The cost for a personal trainer varies different based on experiene, certifications, and availability. Online personal trainers can offer free services and can go up to as much as $200 per session depending on the services. For example, an online trainer can provide you with a one time basic report that doesn’t include direct access to the trainer for questions. A more expensive trainer can include a more customized report and weekly follow up emails as well as direct access. Some trainers provide unlimited access via email, some provide weekly, some bi-weekly, some monthly. Make sure you understand your package to see if the service is worth the price.
How much does a personal trainer cost in Miami?
If you’re searching for priviate one on one training, the cost can vary from trainer to trainer. You have to consider a few variables. Will you be training with the trainer at a corporate gym. Corporate gyms typically set their own prices which the trainer can’t control. Pricing is typically based on experience and certifications. Prices can be as low as $30 per session for a half hour session to as much as $150 for an hour session with a very specialized and qualified trainer. If you want home service a trainer may charge betwee $50 – $200 per session depending on distance travelled and if they have to bring a lot of equipment. I would suggest asking a trainer for their resume to see their qualifications and experience.
What does an online fitness coach do?
An online fitness coach should be able to provide a host of services. They should be able to take your current situation and be able to create a SMART program to get you to whatever goal you desire. Losing weight fast with extreme diets and extreme activity is not what I’m talking about. If they can’t tell you exactly how to reach your goal that fitnes coach is most likely not qualified. A fitness coach should use as many tools as possible to create the most specific path to your goal as possble. These include but are not limited to: body fat tests, a nutrition plan based on basal metabolic rate, a training program to reach a desired goal, recovery days, and supplementation. Telling someone to lift heavy to get stronger is not a training program. Training heavy can create 3 different results: strength, power, and hypertophy. Those 3 different results similar but very different. If a trainer can’t tell the difference that’s not a good coach and I’d search for someone else.
What should I look for in a personal trainer?
Education is very important. However, having a doctorate’s in personal training doesn’t substitute experience. Take into consideration how many years a personal trainer has been working with clients. Being an athlete in high school and college doesn’t mean they know what they are doing. It might actually be dangerous because they may train you like they do. I would look for experience in programming, nutrition, and various certifications in different specializations. A trainer doesn’t simply have a degree or certification. They should be able to program for any athlete and have experience in powerlifting, olympic lifting, kettlebells, corrective exercise, performance enhancement, kettlebell coaching, and anything else relevant to being a trainer. A trainer that only says, I’m certified by this company and have 10 years of experience as an athlete most likely doesn’t have any experience working with clients. Additionally, look for someone that fits the part. Back to certifications doesn’t substitute real experience and passion for their job. A trainer should look the part. They should live a healthy and fit lifestyle. If there’s no passion don’t expect above and beyond service.
Should I get an online personal trainer?
Getting an online personal trainer is definitely recommended if you have a specific goal that you may not be familiar with. For example, if you want to increase power that is a very specific goal that requires a very specific weight training program. If you want to build muscle, that is also a very specific goal that requires a very specific program. If you want to compete in a bodybuilding contest, an online bodybuilding coach will help you get to your ideal body type. They will tell you how long it’ll take you to get there with prove science. They’ll help you with the process of cutting weight, peak week, and peak day. If you’re trying to lose weight and you can’t seem to figure it out, hiring someone with significant experience and proven results can be of great benefit. When looking at results, look for long term results. A lot of trainer’s only show the results of people they’ve been training for 2 or 3 months. That’s not a result. That’s a temporary achievement. A proven result is one where the client reaches their goal and stays in that shape for the rest of their life.
What are the benefits of hiring a personal trainer?
The benefits of hiring a personal trainer is giving you the peace of mind that you are going to get a program that is going to work. You don’t have to do any research or any trial and error. Too many people think that getting stronger or building muscle is just going to the gym and lifting heavy weights. Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s the same with weight loss. Some people think that just by eating a little bit of food and execising a lot that they are going to reach their ideal weight goal. The problem with that logic is that yes you’ll lose a great amount of weight, and yes you’ll probably reach your goal, but just as fast if not faster you’ll suffer a rebound and actually end up heavier then where you started. This happens a lot and this type of thinking is what’s keeping over 60% of the population over weight and discouraged. A persoal trainer should be able to provide you with a SMART fitness plan so that you can have long term and lifetime results.
Do online personal trainers work?
Like any other service in the world, you have great professionals who love what they do and provide exceptional service and you have those who are just out there trying to make a quick buck. Do your homework when searching for a trainer. The right trainer definitely works. Someone with real experience creating programs for hundreds and even thousands of clients will take you where you want to go. Hiring someone with a rinky dinky online certification they paid $50 to get will more than likely put you in a worse situation rather then improve your situation. A great trainer will get into very specific details and you’ll know when you’re getting a great plan. If you see that a trainer only provides you with a 1000 calorie carb cycling diet and tells you to do an hour of cardio a day after your workout, eating chicken and vegetables, that’s a rinky dinky trainer. It doesn’t matter what they claim. They are unqualified to get you results. As I’ve mentioned before, you’ll lose a ton of weight. You might even reach your goal. But the damage from the extreme dieting and fitness activity will destroy your metabolism, hormonal balance, and set you back years causing a great reboud and putting you in a worse place then when you started.
Who is the best online personal trainer?
The best personal trainer is the one that has proven experience, certifications, and that goes above and beyond for their client. They have a passion that is unmatched and will go the extra mile to ensure that their client gets results. They will ask you about your current situation, what you’ve tried before, what supplements are you taking, what medications, what current injuries or underlying conditions do you have. Personal training is not a one size fits all. With that said, understand what you’re paying for. You can’t expect a trainer to give you anytime access to them, constant updates and progress reports, for $25 a month. Respect their time. Respect their professionalism. When you find a great trainer stick to them. They are rare and hard to come by.
How do I find an online personal trainer?
You can definitely google search. I’d go through the first 3 or 4 page results and compare. The #1 result doesn’t mean they are the best trainer. It just means their website is #1. Go on social media like Instagram and search the hashtag onlinepersonaltrainer. Very important! Use caution! There are many fake coaches and gurus who just recycle plans that they google online. They are very obvious. If the plan is very simple with just eat this may calories and do this routine at the gym, and is very vague, that’s a fake trainer. Consider their profiles. Do they live the life? Do they have a real following? Do they have long term clients? I can tell you that from working at gyms, I’ve seen managers hire people based on their look. And those same people are social media influencers who doctor their pictures and have zero experience and qualifications. As I’ve said before, good trainers are rare. They aren’t the ones with a million followers although some may have a million followers. In the end, do your due diligence. You may hire some fakes and end up scammed. Don’t get discouraged. Ask for a resume, especially if they charge a lot of money. Get a detailed explanation of what services they will provide and compare 5-10 different trainers.
